Morgan Wallen must complete a week of DUI education after pleading guilty to throwing chair from a roof in Nashville

Morgan Wallen pleaded guilty to two counts of reckless endangerment eight months after he threw a chair from a roof in downtown Nashville.

The 2024 CMA Entertainer of the Year accepted the plea deal in person in court on Thursday. He must complete a week of DUI training at a center and then serve supervised probation for the next two years. Wallen is also responsible for paying $350 in fines and court fees.

Following the trial, Wallen’s attorney, Worrick Robinson, issued a statement saying the charges could be dropped upon completion of the artist’s probation.

“Upon successful completion of his probation, the charges may be dismissed and expunged,” Robinson said. “Mr. Wallen has cooperated fully with authorities over the past eight months, communicating directly with and apologizing to all involved. Mr. Wallen remains committed to making a positive impact through his music and foundation.”

Wallen got into legal trouble back in April when he was arrested for throwing a chair from the roof of Eric Church’s six-story honky-tonk bar called Chiefs. Two officers were standing outside the store on Lower Broadway when they saw the chair fall. In the affidavit written by officers, facility staff said Wallen was responsible for the incident and video footage showed Wallen “falling and throwing an object from the roof.” There were no injuries from the throw.

The country singer posted $15,250 bail and was released the next morning before posting an apology on his X account and taking responsibility.

“I didn’t feel comfortable coming forward publicly until I made amends with a few people,” he wrote. “I have been in contact with Nashville law enforcement, my family and the good people at Chief’s. I’m not proud of my behavior and I take responsibility.”
