Billie Eilish pares down “hard and soft” songs for Tiny Desk Concert

“This is so cool, I’ve wanted to do this my whole life, so I’m a little shaky,” the singer says of the NPR Music set

Billie Eilish’s long-awaited Tiny Desk concert is here, as NPR Music showed the singer’s scaled-back performance in the booth on Thursday.

“Wow. This is nerve-wracking,” Eilish told the happy NPR staff between songs. “Tiny desk. This is so cool, I’ve wanted to do this my whole life, so I’m a little shaky. I’m really excited to be here to be.”

Along with brother Finneas and a small backing band, Eilish performed three songs from Hit Me Hard and Soft – “The Greatest”, “L’Amour de Ma Vie” and a closing version of her hit “Birds of a Feather”. ” – plus “I Love You” from her 2019 debut When we all fall asleep, where do we go?

“We’re doing an old song,” Eilish said before “I Love You.” “This is one of our favorite songs that we wrote… When I first fell in love it was very scary and it’s funny how that fear never goes away, the feeling of falling into something.”

Before the acoustic version of “Birds of a Feather,” Eilish admitted that the single just went to number one. Released in July, the song was one of the top tracks of the summer and received 2025 Grammy nominations for Song of the Year, Record of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance.

Hit me hard and softand its tracks have received a total of seven Grammy nominations, including Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album.
