The Game Awards are just a few hours away, but one of the Game of the Year nominees, Balatro, isn’t waiting for Geoff Keighley to take the stage. Localthunk and PlayStack have announced Friends Of Jimbo 3, a free update to the map-based roguelike that brings eight more friendly face-to-face maps for your next run.

The package was announced in a new trailer starring Ben Starr – the voice of Clive Rosfield in Final Fantasy XVI, Prometheus in Hades II and more – as Balatro jester Jimbo. The trailer also introduces all eight guests from Friends of Jimbo 3, ranging from indie hits to robust RPGs.

Below is the list of games included in the Balatro Friends Of Jimbo 3 package:

  • Divinity: Original Sin 2
  • Don’t starve
  • Enter the dungeon
  • Cult of the Lamb
  • 1000x resistance
  • Potion crafting
  • Shovel Knight
  • Warframe

Balatro is a roguelike deck builder where players use traditional playing cards to score as many points as possible against blinds. Points can be multiplied with Joker cards, which provide temporary buffs, as well as planetary and tarot cards, which provide permanent buffs to a particular run.

The surprising indie hit was released on consoles and PC in February, with the mobile version following in September. Since its initial release, it has been downloaded over 3.5 million times and its success earned five nominations at the Game Awards, including Game of the Year, Best Game Director and Best Independent Game. It was also one of GameSpot’s Top 10 Games of 2024.
