The new Naughty Dog game starring Troy Baker was announced at the Game Awards 2024

A new game from Naughty Dog Studios called Intergalactic: The Heretical Prophet is on the way, announced at this year’s Game Awards. The game is set in a sci-fi universe and the trailer shows a character going about his daily life, watching a little old-school anime and picking up a pet store record before setting off on a space adventure. The universe looks a lot less high-tech and polished than something in the Star Wars universe. Instead of elegant interfaces, the protagonist uses CRT-style monitors, old-school technology and keyboards, and other clunky elements that make the protagonist’s ship seem more functional than fancy.

Naughty Dog, a Sony-owned studio, is known for its elaborate adventure games with cinematic principles such as The Last of Us and Uncharted. Troy Baker, who played Joel in The Last of Us games, is signed to play the protagonist of this new project. The game is also directed by Neil Druckmann, who served as creative director on The Last of Us games Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End. The trailer showed part of the story, which follows bounty hunter Jordan Munn as she pursues a crime syndicate called The Five Aces. While searching for one of the Aces, Jordan finds himself stranded on a distant planet with some very hostile-looking robots.

Druckmann called the game “our wildest and most creative story yet” in a post on the Naughty Dog website and said that the game has been in development since 2020. There is no news on release dates or platforms, but it will be interesting to see how Intergalactic takes shape and where this heretical prophet comes into play.
