There’s something special about “Thursday Night Football” and this season’s ridiculous catches.

After the Jets’ Garrett Wilson tackled Odell Beckham Jr. with a one-handed touchdown in October, Rams star Puka Nacua made his attempt at the catch with a ridiculous grab that he held on with the help of a 49ers defender’s helmet of the year – almost similar to David Tyree’s infamous Super Bowl catch.

On the second drive of the game for Los Angeles, quarterback Matthew Stafford dropped back and threw a quick out route to the other side of the field, placing the ball slightly high for Nacua, who jumped to grab the ball.

And when Nacua jumped, instead of looking for the ball, 49ers defender Charvarius Ward had his eyes on Nacua to either knock the ball out of his hands or bring down the wideout.

Instead, however, Nacua used Ward’s helmet and left shoulder to hold onto the ball for a seven-yard pickup.

The second-year receiver came into Thursday’s game after having his best week of the year on Sunday against the Bills with 12 grabs – including a touchdown – for 162 yards.

One of those 12 balls was an incredibly acrobatic catch on the sideline, where he almost magically stuck his toes on the other sideline.

But with the helmet catch four days later, Nacua might have gone one better.
