Borderlands 4 Introduces the New Ripper Horde and the Deadly Planet of Kairos – PlayStation.Blog

Today we finally got our first look at Borderlands 4. The trailer, unveiled during the Game Awards, is just a first taste of the chaos that awaits on the new planet Kairos!

This first look shows our new band of Vault Hunters making their way through Cairos, a deadly new world filled with bloodthirsty beasts – and even some familiar faces.

It also reveals The Timekeeper, Borderlands 4’s main antagonist, who rules over Kairos from above.

For some background on how we got here, our official teaser trailer shows the catastrophic arrival of Pandora’s moon, Elpis, in the atmosphere above the previously hidden world of Cairo. The collision tore a hole in the protective barrier around the planet and rained down meteorites and bandit masks.

Now, years later, these events have spawned a horde called the Rippers, led by their terrible Queen Callis. In the trailer, we see them facing off against the Timekeeper and his army of synthetic soldiers known as The Order.

When the Vault Hunters land on Kairos, the planet is a powder keg waiting to explode. You know what’s next: Borderlands Mayhem in full.

In case you don’t know, Borderlands 4 is the most ambitious Borderlands yet, lovingly handcrafted by the team that created the looter-shooter genre. In addition to evolving the franchise’s signature looter-shooter gameplay in new ways, we are committed to delivering the signature Borderlands experience that fans know and love.

Packed with more loot than ever before, free-fighting and exploration, large-scale boss fights, and unforgettable new and old characters, we can’t wait to show you what the world of Kairos has in store for you and your fellow-op crew. Borderlands 4 offers split-screen local co-op for two players or online co-op for up to four players, whatever suits you!

So get ready to gather your friends, prepare for loot, and take on the authoritarian timekeeper in Borderlands 4. And be sure to look out for our gameplay debut in early 2025!
