CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – A very complex forecast for this weekend begins today with dry and partly cloudy skies.

As clouds form, high temperatures will warm to the low to mid 20s. As the evening progresses and into the night, a wintry mix begins.

Initially, freezing rain or drizzle is to be expected, later there may be traffic jams and slippery roads. On Saturday, so much warm air will arrive that most areas will only have rain.

The worst conditions appear to be between Highway 20 and Highway 30, where we could see up to an inch of ice from late tonight through midday Saturday. Because of this, an Ice Storm Warning has been issued and will be in effect from midnight tonight through Saturday evening.

Because the storm system is not moving into cooler air, the chances of light snow and freezing rain are greater, particularly in areas along and north of Highway 20 and south of I-80.
