This is the seventh time in program history that the Sooners have been named a No. 1 team and the 15th consecutive season in which OU was ranked in the top five nationally to start the year. 2025 marks the 12th consecutive season in which the Sooners have been ranked in the top three by the coaches. Prior to this season, OU was ranked as the No. 1 team in 2016, 2017, 2018, 2020, 2023 and 2024, as the No. 2 team in 2015, 2019 and 2021, as the No. 3 team in 2014 and 2022 and as No. 4 planned 2011, 2012 and 2013.

OU has now opened 20 consecutive seasons in the top 10 nationally and the last 24 years in the top 25. Since coach Kindler’s arrival in 2007, the Sooners have been ranked in the preseason top 10 every year.

The competitive list features 14 of OU’s regular-season opponents ranked in the poll, including 12 in the top 25. The Sooners face three of the top five teams in No. 2 LSU, No. 4 California and No. 5 in their second meeting of the season Utah. The Sooners face eight of the other nine teams ranked in the top 10 in the 2025 regular season, with No. 10 UCLA being the lone exception.

The Sooners will face four top-10 teams at the Lloyd Noble Center in No. 3 Florida (Feb. 21), No. 7 Kentucky (Feb. 7), No. 8 Arkansas (Jan. 31) and No. 9 Missouri (Jan ) received. 17). Also coming to Norman is No. 13 Michigan (March 7).

OU will open the season with No. 17 Auburn, No. 23 Nebraska and No. 27 BYU in the Music City Collegiate Championship in Nashville, Tennessee. The following weekend, the Sooners will attempt to defend their title in the Sprouts Collegiate Quad matchup with four of the top five teams.

The Sooners travel to No. 6 Alabama (Jan. 24), No. 2 LSU (Feb. 14), No. 17 Auburn (Feb. 28) and No. 14 Georgia (March 14). OU also faces No. 36 North Carolina on Feb. 23 at the Metroplex Challenge in Fort Worth, Texas.

Davis elected to use her extra year granted by the NCAA due to the COVID-19 pandemic to return for a fifth season. In addition to the returnees, the Sooners brought in standout freshmen Elizabeth Blessey, Addison Fatta, Elle Mueller, Lily Pederson, Kelsey Slade and Hurley Snow.
