With Boomer back at the helm, Davis promises “all the laughs, pranks and mayhem” that fans love – “along with a few surprises to remind us why this show is so timeless.”

The original Fox sitcom, which aired for seven seasons between 2000 and 2006 and won seven Emmys, centered on the misadventures of middle child and mentally ill Malcolm as he along with brothers Francis (Christopher Masterson), Reese (Justin Berfield) and Dewey grew up (Erik Per Sullivan). Sullivan took a significant step back from acting in 2010, so it’s unclear whether he would reprise his fan-favorite role.

News of the revival comes as no surprise, of course, as Muniz has repeatedly hinted at the sitcom’s return over the past few years. He first revealed it was in the works in 2022, sharing that TV dad Cranston was leading the charge in “writing the script and getting everything rolling.” Boomer then confirmed this Weekly entertainment that the cast and crew were actually “talking about it.”

“We all think it would be fun if we had the right idea,” he said.

Muniz celebrated the revival with a video featuring his former TV parents that was shared on social media. “I’ve been waiting for this moment for 18 years,” Muniz said in the clip. “Let’s find out where Malcolm and his family are now.”

Cranston added, “25 years since our premiere.” Malcolm in the middle. I’m so excited… that I may have peed a little.

“What a joy that I can shout at the child again!” said Kaczmarek. “We’re really excited to get back together and see what this family has done.”
