“Rick and Bubba” is ending in Alabama after 31 years on the air

After 31 years together, Rick Burgess and Bill “Bubba” Bussey ended their career as the popular “Rick and Bubba” radio show. After airing in the Calhoun and Etowah County area for several years, the show moved to Birmingham. With a mix of Southern humor, skits and special characters, The Rick and Bubba Show became popular with local fans. The duo then spread the show throughout the South and the United States, including a stint on the old Turner South Television Network. The show ended with a reunion of guests and former cast members. Bussey now works for the Jacksonville State Athletic Department and plans to launch a podcast in the new year. Burgess will continue on radio with The Rick Burgess in January.
