RFK Jr.’s lawyer, Aaron Siri, wants the government to revoke its approval of the polio vaccine

Okay, the non-billionaire truck salesman was good for a laugh or two, but when the charlatan uses his human resources department to staff the new administration, people get killed. Out of The New York Times:

The lawyer who is helping Robert F. Kennedy Jr. select federal health officials for the new Trump administration has asked the administration to revoke approval of the polio vaccine, which for decades has protected millions of people from a virus that is growing Paralysis or death can result. This campaign is just one front in the war that attorney Aaron Siri is waging against vaccines of all kinds.

Mr. Siri has also filed a petition seeking to suspend the distribution of 13 additional vaccines; called for, and in some cases even lifted, nationwide Covid-19 vaccination requirements; sued federal agencies over disclosure of records related to vaccine approvals; and subjected prominent vaccine scientists to grueling, videotaped testimony. … At the Trump transition headquarters in Florida, Mr. Siri joined Mr. Kennedy in interviewing and selecting candidates for top health care positions, according to someone who observed the interactions but insisted on anonymity to disclose private conversations. They asked candidates for their opinions on vaccines, the person said.

A related one NYT Story argued that vaccines were so effective at eliminating childhood diseases that generations of medical students had come through the pipeline with no memory of what life was like without the vaccines, what it was like when measles or whooping cough among children the country was rampant. Thousands of children were also affected by polio, but adults like Roosevelt were also affected. And my mother, who spent a year in an iron lung, which gave her a distrust of doctors that she never lost. But I remember how happy she was when news of the Salk vaccine broke, and how enthusiastically she sent me to the pediatrician for the first of many lifelong vaccinations, the last of which was two weeks ago.

Like Mr Kennedy, Mr Siri insists he does not want to take the vaccine away from anyone who wants it. “They want to get the vaccine — it’s America, a free country,” he told lawmakers in Arizona last year after voicing concerns about vaccines for polio and other diseases. He did not mention the petitions he has filed with the Food and Drug Administration on behalf of ICAN (Informed Consent Action Network), asking regulators to withdraw approval of vaccines not only against polio but also against hepatitis B or to suspend. Mr. Siri is also representing ICAN in petitioning the FDA to “suspend” distribution of 13 other vaccines, including combination products for tetanus, diphtheria, polio and hepatitis A, until their manufacturers disclose details about aluminum, an ingredient, the researchers have been linked to a slight increase in asthma cases.

When did this country become so suspicious of everything it once did right?
