NEW YORK (AP) – The NBA says referees correctly called a foul against Golden State in the final seconds of their NBA Cup quarterfinal loss in Houston, a decision made by the Warriors coach Steve Kerr said it was “unconscionable”..”

The foul on Jonathan Kuminga with 3.5 seconds left gave Jalen Green two free throws that secured the final points of the game The Rockets’ 91:90 win on Wednesday evening.

Warriors coach Steve Kerr speaks to the media after a tough NBA Cup loss to the Rockets.

“Our guys fought back, played their foul language and deserved to win the game or at least have a chance for a stop at the end to end the game,” Kerr said. “And that was taken away from us by a call that I don’t think an elementary school referee would have made. Because this guy would have felt and said, ‘You know what, I’m not going to decide a game with a loose ball 80 feet from the basket.'”

But the NBA ruled Thursday that it was correct, finding that Kuminga reached over Green “in an attempt to get the ball and pulled his shoulder downward.”
