Dasha performs her viral hit “Austin (Boots Stop Workin’)” during Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade

Dasha delivered a high-energy performance of her viral hit “Austin (Boots Stop Workin’)” during a rain-damaged 2024 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City.

The fast-rising country artist offered one of the many highlights of the Thanksgiving extravaganza, a beloved holiday tradition in the United States since 1924.

Fans had spotted Dasha rehearsing for the momentous occasion earlier this week, and TikTok videos surfaced of the “Didn’t I” singer-songwriter practicing the choreography for the performance. Surrounded by an army of backup dancers, Dasha danced through the infectious route on the Spirit of America’s Big City Cheer float.

A number of viewers have taken to social media to compare Dasha’s performance to that of Taylor Swift, as the rising artist is able to write catchy hooks while also incorporating deeply impactful, powerful lyricism into her music.

Elsewhere during the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, spectators were treated to performances by artists including Dan + Shay, Idina Menzel, Kylie Minogue, Rachel Platten, Walker Hayes, The War and Treaty, T-Pain, Jennifer Hudson and Jimmy Fallon, as well as The Roots spoiled.

Despite the weather’s best attempts to “scuttle their parade,” the event was characterized by its trademark atmosphere of warmth and familiarity, with the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade remaining one of the most anticipated parts of the holiday each year.

Organizers’ decision to tap Dasha to perform at the national event underscores how quickly the “Heartbreaker From Tennessee” prodigy has risen to the highest echelons of country music. Dasha is believed to be working on her highly anticipated 2024 sequel What happens now? (Deluxe)which is expected to be released in 2025 – and after their Thanksgiving set, the anticipation is huge.
