The Reagans came together to protect New York City in an epic and emotional way Blue blood Series finale, after a madman threatened to put her life in danger.

Warning: Spoilers below for Blue Bloods Season 14, Episode 18.

The Friday, December 13th episode began with the assassination of a New York judge, sending shockwaves throughout the city. As Detectives Danny Reagan (Donnie Wahlberg) and Maria Baez (Marisa Ramirez) began to investigate the murder, beat the police officers Eddie Janko (Vanessa Ray) and Luis Badillo (Ian Quinlan) responded to a carjacking call heard over the radio.

Eddie and Badillo are ambushed by gunmen on motorcycles as soon as they get out of their vehicle – and both are shot. Across town, two men on another motorcycle are cheering on Mayor Chase (Dylan Walsh), who is admitted to the hospital.

In the office of Assistant District Attorney Erin Reagan (Bridget Moynahan) and her colleagues are surprised when they receive a threatening video from a masked man saying that New York’s gangs are united and ready to continue killing officers and officers unless certain prisoners are released.

Everyone quickly realizes that their cases are all connected, with the Ace Double Tres (ADT) gang and Carlos Ramirez (Manny Perez) at the center of chaos.

Before the mayor undergoes surgery for his injuries, he gives Commissioner Frank Reagan (Tom Selleck) the keys to the city and tells him to “get us out of there.” Frank does just that, using all the resources at his disposal. This also includes Erin marrying her ex-husband Jack Boyle (Peter Hermann) to pull some strings and get him a meeting with prisoner Lorenzo Batista (Edward James Olmos), whose son shot the mayor.

Although Jamie Reagan was worried about his wife Eddie, who survived her attack (Will Estes), worked with his nephew Joe Hill (Will Hochman) to track down one of the shooters. Unfortunately Badillo doesn’t make it.

The cast of Blue Bloods doesn’t just play a family on TV, they’ve become a close-knit group since the series premiered in 2010. The CBS series follows the lives of the Reagan family, led by Tom Selleck’s Commissioner Frank Reagan. Frank’s father, Henry Reagan (Len Cariou), sits across from him at the group’s weekly Sunday meeting (…)

Meanwhile, Eddie doesn’t stay down for long and gets back into action after Ramirez’s daughter – who fans met earlier this season – called her and said her father was scaring her. After his own brush with death, Danny tracked down Ramirez, rescued his daughter, and took him into custody (using his usual father charm and magnetism).

Jamie and Joe eventually track down the gunman who shot Badillo while he was visiting his newborn baby in the hospital. Before taking him away, Jamie asked Eddie to handcuff him, which she did using Badillo’s police handcuffs. The mayor’s shooter was also found and arrested.

After a disturbing few days, the Reagans blame all the bad guys for the threats and shootings. After Badillo’s police funeral, which was attended by everyone, the family celebrated their victory with a family dinner.

In addition to Frank, Danny, Erin, Jamie and Eddie, Grandpa Henry Reagan (Len Cariou) and Frank’s grandchildren Nicky (Sami Gayle), Jack (Tony Terraciano) and Sean (Andrew Terracino), everyone had a seat at the table. Erin’s on-again, off-again partner Jack was also sitting next to her.

“We have a lot to be grateful for. When I look around this table, I have to say I couldn’t be prouder or more grateful,” Frank gushed before they all said grace one last time.

Frank joyfully handed the keys to the city back to the mayor after saving the day with the help of his family and officials. He then attended Badillo’s funeral with all his loved ones and delivered a sweet message to Badillo’s mother. “Please take a good look around, Luis’ whole family is with you today,” he said as the crowd burst into tears.

Frank remained at the head of his family table at the end of the series – and was still the police commissioner of New York City.

Henry Reagan

Len Cariou Blue Bloods

Henry stayed out of trouble throughout the finale, but gave his eldest grandson Danny some sage advice about his love life. At the end of the episode, Henry was happy and healthy and still living with his son Frank.

During his hunt for Ramirez and his daughter, Danny has a candid conversation with Henry about his personal life. “I always told you not to bring the job home,” Henry reminded Danny, noting that “the problem now is that you don’t have anyone you can’t bring it home to.” Then he asked Danny to promise him that he would “find someone” after this case.

Danny heard loud and clear his grandpa later asking his work partner Baez on what seemed like a date. “Do you want to eat pizza?” Danny said before the two left the station arm in arm.

After Jack helped the Reagan family as a favor for Erin, the two went for a walk. Erin and Jack, divorced but seeing each other again, took a trip down memory lane and remembered how good of a team they are.

“We tried marriage, remember?” Jack reminded Erin, who replied, “Yes, and despite our best efforts, we’re still here. One foot in and one foot out. Maybe we’ll try with both feet?”

She stressed that “everyone deserves a second chance” and promised that “this time it will be different.” Then Erin suggested, “Group of two? City hall? Will you tell everyone about this after the fact?”

Jack agreed and during the family dinner, Erin said she had an announcement that hinted at the couple’s secret marriage. However, after Jamie and Eddie shared their own big news, Erin decided to keep her news quiet and gave Jack a knowing look.

Jamie Reagan

Will Estes Blue Bloods
CBS

Jamie and Joe successfully worked together to track down a suspect, which was a heartwarming moment since Jamie had already given Joe a car from his late father and Jamie’s brother Joe Reagan earlier this season.

The collaboration was even more emotional after Jamie almost lost his wife in the shooting. Luckily, both Jamie and Eddie were able to finish the series safely. However, Eddie was late for the family dinner – and everyone noticed.

When she finally arrived, she carried a high chair to complement the table. “We will use it when the baby is born,” Jamie revealed. Eddie confirmed her pregnancy and said her due date was in June.
