“Ohio State Buckeyes make final decision on HC Ryan Day”

The Ohio State Buckeyes lost their fourth straight game to the arch-rival Michigan Wolverines in the final game of the regular season. After that loss, the fan base immediately began demanding head coach Ryan Day’s job.

While the frustration is understandable, firing Day would be challenging.

Not only was he a great recruiter and a solid all-around coach, he would also owe a lot of money if Ohio State decided to move on. It just didn’t seem like a very likely scenario.

Now we have a much more final decision from the Buckeyes about their plans with Day.

Ross Bjork was asked about Day’s status and whether he would be the team’s head coach to start next season against the Texas Longhorns, regardless of what happens in the College Football Playoff.

According to JBook on

Bringing Day back was almost a certainty, at least for another season. If he struggles in 2025 and loses to Michigan again, there could be another conversation about this topic.

At the moment, a change in head coach simply doesn’t make sense. Day has done a good job in the game, has done a great job as a recruiter and is too expensive to part with anyway.

Hopefully, with a strong playoff run, he can tick all the boxes for his release.

Of course, as most fans know, Ohio State will begin its College Football Playoff on December 21st with a home game against the Tennessee Volunteers. A dominant win in this matchup would put them back on the national championship map.

The Buckeyes have the talent to make a championship run. It’s time for them to consistently demonstrate their talent and pursue the ultimate goal.
