The college football postseason is here, and while that means the season is coming to an end, it also means another month of football with bowl games playing almost every day for the next few weeks. Bowl season culminates in the College Football Playoff National Championship, which will crown the first champion of the new 12-team playoff on Monday, January 20.

Bowl season begins Saturday with the Cricket Celebration Bowl at 12 p.m. ET. There are six bowl games through Thursday before a busy weekend that includes a pair of bowl games – namely the StaffDNA Cure Bowl and the Union Home Mortgage Gasparilla Bowl – as an appetizer before the main course: the first round of the College Football Playoff .

When are the College Football Playoffs?

The College Football Playoff begins with first-round games on December 20th and 21st (see full schedule below). The winners of these matches advance to the quarterfinals, scheduled for New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. The semi-finals will take place on January 9th and 10th The national championship will take place on January 20th.
