FORT EISENHOWER, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – The all-clear was given at Fort Eisenhower after the post was closed for a period of time Saturday morning.

The all-clear came at around 9:35 a.m. after the post office had previously been blocked.

When the army announced the lockdown, it posted on Facebook around 9 a.m.:

LOCKDOWN! LOCKDOWN!

PERFORM LOCKING OPERATIONS ON THE INSTALLATION IMMEDIATELY! If you are in danger, take appropriate action!

LOCKDOWN! LOCKDOWN!

Updates will be provided as information becomes available

Although the Facebook post did not explain what happened, comments on the post suggested there had been a report of an active shooter. News 12 was unable to confirm that.

Other comments from people in the post suggested that they were soldiers and were safe in their barracks.

A fire engine and an ambulance were seen heading towards Gate 6, but it was unclear whether they were related.

The all-clear message on Facebook said:

The dangerous event is over. All staff can resume normal operations at this time.

A spokeswoman for the post said she would issue an official statement soon.
