Police are searching for three fugitives from the island of Hawaii who fled in a stolen vehicle

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Hawaii Island Police are searching for three male escapees from the Hawaii Community Correctional Center’s Hale Nani facility in Hilo.

Police said they escaped around 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 13

The refugees are (picture from left):

  • Joseph C. Fernandez, 35, is described as 5 feet 11 inches tall, 195 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.
  • Kawai J. Pomroy, 41, is described as 6 feet 2 inches tall, weighing 260 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.
  • Clyde T. Loa, 31, is described as 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighing 250 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.

All three were last seen leaving the facility in a stolen gray 2014 Nissan Altima with Hawaii license plate ZCK261. The vehicle belongs to a civilian employee of a facility.

The police are currently investigating how the occupants got the vehicle keys and fled.

Loa was in custody on multiple counts of carjacking and resisting an order to stop a motor vehicle. Pomroy was incarcerated for abuse of a household or family member. Fernandez was in custody for parole revocation for a firearms violation.
