🚨 Bayern suffer a surprising defeat in Mainz

Bayern Munich put in a strong performance in their fight for the Bundesliga title after suffering a stunning 2-1 loss to Mainz at the Mewa Arena.

Kompany’s men were chasing all three points on their final away day of the first half of the season and certainly went into the weekend’s fixtures confidently with a 10-3-0, but Bo Henriksen’s Mainz team had other ideas in mind after back-to-back home wins.

Goalscorers: Lee 41′, 60′; Sané 87′

Both teams had the chance to score the first goal in the first 15 minutes through Michael Olise and Jonathan Burkardt, but Nullfive head coach Bo Henriksen had to watch his captain leave the field injured in the 15th minute due to an apparent thigh injury had to.

The absence of key player Harry Kane was obvious and glaring for Kompany’s side as they looked to score all the points on their trip. Bayern icon Thomas Müller was tasked with replacing the England international but struggled to make a similar impact.

Bayern are still at the top of the table and now go into next weekend just four points ahead of Leverkusen, while Mainz move up to sixth place.
