Amid the “mysterious” drone sightings in the state of New Jersey in recent weeks, President-elect Donald Trump took a swipe at former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie with an AI-generated image of Christie eating a drone-delivered McDonald’s Happy Meal.

Here is the photo:

After a week of drone sightings in New Jersey and New York yielded no significant information from the government, Trump broke his silence on the issue on Friday. The 78-year-old called for the drones to be “shot down” and asked whether this could happen without the government’s knowledge.

“Mysterious drone sightings across the country. Can this really happen without our government’s knowledge? I don’t think so,” Trump wrote on Truth Social, his social media platform. “Let the public know, immediately. Otherwise shoot them!!! DJT.”

Chris Christie, a member of the Republican Party, has not commented on the drone sightings and has not yet issued a statement. Trump’s post on Saturday was most likely a dig at the 62-year-old.

It is noteworthy that Christie was also a competitor of Donald Trump in the Republican Party for the presidential nomination in 2024. His campaign strategy focused on criticizing Trump as a “failed leader” who puts himself above the country. He also frequently referred to Trump’s legal troubles and his moral responsibility for the attack on the Capitol on January 6, 2020.

Chris Christie suspended his presidential campaign on January 10, 2024. Moments earlier, he was filmed on a hot mic predicting that Nikki Haley would get “smoked” and calling Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis “petrified.”
