Israel Adesanya vs. Nassourdine Imavov headlines Fight Night in Riyadh

Former UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya will have his first non-title fight since 2019 when he takes on Nassourdine Imavov in the main event of UFC Fight Night on February 1 at ANB Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Adesanya (24-4) is coming off consecutive losses for the first time in his MMA career. “The Last Stylebender” dropped the middleweight title in a stunning upset of Sean Strickland in September 2023 and failed in his attempt to regain the 185-pound title when it was submitted by current champion Dricus du Plessis in August.

The 35-year-old Adesanya will look to get back to winning ways against the No. 5 ranked middleweight in the UFC and re-establish himself as one of the greatest UFC middleweights of all time.

Imavov (15-4) fought in Paris and won three straight fights against Roman Dolidze, Jared Cannonier and Brendan Allen. A win for the 29-year-old Imavov would catapult him into the middleweight title fight, where Du Plessis will face Strickland at UFC 312 on February 9.

The co-main event will be a striker’s paradise as undefeated Shara Magomedov (15-0) meets highly touted kickboxer Michael “Venom” Page (22-3) in a middleweight showdown.

The 30-year-old Magomedov pulled off a stunning double-spinning back-fist knockout of Armen Petrosyan at UFC 308 in October. “Shara Bullet” fights in Dagestan, Russia and is the No. 14 ranked middleweight in the UFC.

Fighting out of London, Page will move up from welterweight and make a name for himself as a middleweight. The 37-year-old Page dropped a unanimous decision in favor of Ian Machado Garry in June. The decorated striker will look to make a name for himself in 185-pounder land, but will have his hands full against a fellow striker who has 12 knockout victories in his career.
