NC State’s football coach was unfazed by Bill Belichick’s question before the bowl game

The rivalry between NC State and North Carolina Even though the regular season is officially over, things are still running deep.

During a press conference with reporters on Friday Wolfpack head coach Dave Doeren didn’t seem pleased that the first question in his media session was about opposing head coach Bill Belichick.

“That’s the first question I’m asked today?” Shocking,” said Doeren.

The question about that biggest news in the ACC This year, questions have been asked about how NC State is preparing for its bowl game against East Carolina, another in-state rival.

Despite his initial comments, Doeren managed to welcome the famous former NFL coach to the conference before adding that he’s not “really thinking about North Carolina.”

“Well, first of all, welcome to the ACC, and I look forward to competing against a coach. Obviously all the trainers in the industry have a lot of respect and know what he has achieved in his profession. So for me as a…” competitor, I’m looking forward to the competition. And that’s pretty much all I have to say about it, because I really don’t think much about this program, just my own.”

Belichick, 72, entered the broadcasting world after mutually agreeing to part ways New England Patriots Last season. But the legendary coach returned to the sidelines when he agreed to take the head coaching job at North Carolina this week.

Belichick and Doeren will have a chance to handle things on the field next year.

The Wolf Pack is fresh off a win in this long-standing rivalry after defeating the Tar Heels 35-30 last month.

The Wolfpack’s focus for now is on East Carolina when the two programs meet in the Military Bowl on December 28th.
