Heidi Gardner & Gracie Abrams’ favorite Chris Rock film

When Chris Rock returns Saturday Night Livethe cast delves into his filmography.

The 4-time Emmy winner who was part of it SNL Cast from 1990 to 1993, appeared in a new promo Thursday for this weekend’s episode with musical guest Gracie Abrams and cast member Heidi Gardner bonding over their favorite rock movie.

“You know, Gracie and I were just saying that you made our absolute favorite movie in the world,” Gardner told him.

By guess Madagascar (2005) and Adult (2010), Abrams revealed: “No, Pootie Tang.”

“Do you really like Pootie Tang?” Rock asked with a surprised look as Abrams replied “sa da tay” and Gardner quipped “wa-da-tah” and the titular ghetto folk hero (played by Lance Crouther) from the 2001 comedy quoted.

Gardner also told Rock that she “grew up watching your stand-up,” adding, “No, I’m serious. I had no parents, I didn’t go to school, I just had a VHS copy of it Bigger and blacker and a dream.”

“Damn,” Rock replied.

Next week, buddy SNL Alum Martin Short will host with musical guest Hozier. The NBC sketch comedy show created by Lorne Michaels in 1975 is celebrating its 50th anniversary with a primetime special on Sunday, February 16.
