“Trolls will troll”… UFC fan favorite Adrian Yanez breaks his silence after loss at UFC Tampa

UFC fan favorite Adrian Yañez spoke publicly for the first time since his loss to Daniel Marcos at UFC Tampa.

Adrian Yañez’s attempt to get back into the top 15 bantamweight division fell short against Daniel Marcos at UFC Tampa. After three rounds of competition, Yañez lost by split decision to forfeit his third fight in his last four appearances.

Yañez’s loss was further complicated by a nasty blow to the eye he suffered early in the fight. After Marcos accidentally poked Yañez in the eye, the former was the case Dana White’s Contender series Standout appeared to have trouble with his timing on the feet and was unable to withstand Marcos’ barrage.

While the fight’s scoring was disputed, the damage suffered by Yañez was too great for him to overcome late. But despite the eye poke, Yañez doesn’t blame the violation for the defeat.

Adrian Yañez reveals his “eye burned” after being stung mid-fight at UFC Tampa

In a recent post about XYañez addressed the controversial loss at UFC Tampa.

“Kudos to everyone who supported me, trolls will troll, it is what it is,” Yañez said. “The real mates stay next to me… I could be to blame for the eye poke, the vision was blurry, the eye was burning, but I kept fighting, that’s on me… no one can be to blame but me.”

“The fight was close, just give it a miss guys. I try to put on bangers every time, I apologize guys. But a big shout out to everyone who still supports me, I love you.”

Coming into UFC Tampa, former DWCS star Yañez scored a first-round TKO over Vinicius Salvador in May. He overcame the first two losses of his UFC tenure, following recent losses to Jonathan Martinez and Rob Font.

Yañez made it into the top 15 in the bantamweight division after wins over Tony Kelley, Davey Grant and Randy Costa. In each of his first five UFC victories, he received post-fight performance bonuses.

Adrian Yañez wants to avoid another losing streak after UFC Tampa

The 31-year-old Yañez remains a talented bantamweight to keep an eye on through 2025. His boxing is among the best in the bantamweight division, making him a matchup nightmare for many up-and-coming 135-pound players.

Before landing a contract with DWCS, Yañez made a name for himself in promotions such as LFA and Fury FC. As of this writing, he is 17 to 6 years old in his professional career.

Yañez will look to make it big again in his next UFC appearance. In the meantime, he’ll try to recover and look forward to another potentially high-profile year in the Octagon.
