Mitt Romney makes bold prediction for 2028 Republican presidential nominee

Former Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney has revealed who he believes is destined to lead Republicans into the next election in 2028.

In an interview with CNN’s Jake Tapper on State of the Union On Sunday, the Utah senator said he believes Vice President-elect JD Vance will take over for President-elect Donald Trump.

“If you asked me who the candidate would be in 2028, it would probably be JD, Vance,” Romney said. “He’s smart, articulate, part of the MAGA movement.”

Tapper pointed out that Romney was “pretty tough” on the Ohio senator a few months ago when he said he didn’t respect him.

“I’m not going to rehash the story, and we’ve worked together in the Senate ever since,” he said.

Romney also claimed that Trump’s policy plans did not meet voters’ concerns, even though he won a major election victory in November.

“Does the party have to change? The Republican Party has become the party of the working class and middle class voters, and you have to give Donald Trump credit for doing that and taking that away from the Democrats,” he said.

“One of the challenges in my party is that our policies are not necessarily aligned with the interests of our voters, and so some realignment will be necessary in my party.”

The former presidential candidate reiterated that it was the Democrats who ignored voters’ main concerns in this year’s election campaign.

“I don’t know how they recover,” he said. “They have lost their base. Union guys and gals have left the Democratic Party and are voting Republican, and the Democratic Party is seen not as rich people, but as college professors and woke scolds, and that’s not an attractive aspect.”

“How could they have so completely misjudged the public mood? Don’t they understand how angry people are about inflation? But President Biden was out there saying, “Bidenomics.” Like, really? Don’t you see what people see when they go to the supermarket?”

Although Romney has been a harsh critic of Donald Trump, he said he was “willing to live with” the fact that many often disagreed with his views on the state of the Republican Party.

But he remained silent about who he voted for this year, joking that the secret vote was a “wonderful” thing.

He also admitted that he was wrong in his predictions that Trump would not win the election. Americans will have to wait another four years to find out whether he is wrong in his prediction for the Republican Party’s presidential nominee.
