Quick thoughts on the 89-73 loss to Gonzaga:

How it happened

Indiana’s nightmare trip to the Bahamas continued on Thanksgiving Day. The Hoosiers saw the Zags take an 8-0 lead early, but grabbed a brief 18-16 lead at 13:15 on a 3-pointer from Mackenzie Mgbako. However, IU’s prosperity and energy were short-lived. Gonzaga enjoyed the offensive glass, Indiana was soft in the paint and the game quickly got out of hand. The Zags recovered 56 percent of their misses in the first 20 minutes and scored 17 second-chance points. After trailing 33-31 with 8:11 to play in the first half, Gonzaga went on a 24-8 run to secure a comfortable 57-39 lead at halftime. The Zags scored 1.37 points per possession in the first half.

The Hoosiers never seriously challenged Gonzaga in the second half as they lost their second straight game and fell to 4-2. Indiana gave up 89 or more points for the second straight game and will face loser Davidson-Providence in the seventh-place game in the Battle 4 Atlantis on Friday at 11 a.m. ET on ESPN2.

Outstanding artist
