New York Jets vs. Jacksonville Jaguars game inactive

The Jets face the Jaguars this afternoon on their second Florida road trip in a week at EverBank Stadium in Jacksonville.

The big question for the Jets is whether they can prove they are the better team in this matchup of 3-10 teams, both of which have lost close games all season. The Jets have lost nine of their last 10 games and lost seven of their last eight games by a margin of eight points or fewer. The Jaguars, who ended a five-game losing streak with a 10-6 win at Tennessee last week, are 2-7 with a one-point loss this season.

Offensively, it will be interesting for Jets fans to see if Aaron Rodgers and the Jets can build on their good performance last week in Miami. Although they lost 32-26 to the Dolphins in overtime, Rodgers threw for his first 300-yard game since 2021 and the Jets reached 400 yards for the second time this season.

Rodgers will again distribute the ball to WRs Garrett Wilson, Davante Adams and Allen Lazard while the offense will try to gain momentum on the ground. RB Breece Hall returns to action, perhaps limited by his knee injury, to partner with rookie defenders Braelon Allen and Isaiah Davis, who were productive early in last week’s game. And the Jets could prevail against the Jaguars’ defense, which ranks last in the NFL in total yards/play, total yards/play and net passing yards/play.

And with just 123 receiving yards this season and possibly Sunday, Wilson, already one of seven WRs in NFL history with over 80 receiving yards in his first three seasons, becomes one of five pro wideouts to do so 80 catches and 1,000 yards in his first three seasons. He will also become the first Jets WR to post three consecutive 1,000-yard seasons in 56 seasons, or since George Sauer did the triple in 1966-68.
