Patrick Mahomes has two touchdowns and the Chiefs lead the Browns 14-0 at halftime

The Chiefs look to get to 13-1 on Sunday and have a 14-0 halftime lead over the Browns.

Offensively, things were a little inconsistent for Kansas City with four punts in the first half. But the club scored after recovering a Cleveland fumble on the first punt, and Patrick Mahomes found JuJu Smith-Schuster for a 7-yard touchdown to capitalize on the extra possession.

Then things got going in the second quarter when Mahomes found Noah Gray for a 6-yard touchdown to cap a 14-play, 87-yard drive.

But Harrison Butker – in his first game back after being sidelined for several weeks following knee surgery – missed a 29-yard field goal attempt wide left at the end of the half. The Chiefs originally thought about trying fourth-and-1, but decided to send Butker there. The kicker did not have a holder or long snapper until late in the game, which may have impacted the eventual kick.

Butker had never missed a field goal from 29 yards or less in his career and entered the game 60 of 60 in that category.

Mahomes finished the first half 12 of 19 for 112 yards with two touchdowns and no picks. Cleveland native Travis Kelce had three balls for 24 yards.

Browns defensive end Myles Garrett suffered an eye injury while running into left tackle Joe Thuney, but was able to return late in the second quarter.

Cleveland failed to do much offensively in the half. Quarterback Jameis Winston is 7 of 13 for 52 yards with one interception through two quarters. Jerry Jeudy has five catches for 51 yards.

Chiefs defensive end George Karlaftis recorded 2.0 sacks in the first half to help keep Cleveland’s offense in check.

Kansas City cornerback Chamarri Conner was forced to leave the field after hitting Nick Chubb’s leg on an 8-yard run in the second quarter.

The Browns get the kickoff for the second half.
