8:15: The Lions take the Bills to a 4th-and-2 at midfield, but the Bills line up Ty Johnson against a linebacker again for a 31-yard gain. James Cook scores three plays later as the Bills open the game with three consecutive touchdown drives. Bills 21, Lions 7

1:36 p.m.: The Lions offense awakens on their third drive. Ben Johnson goes into the bag of tricks with a halfback pitch back to Jared Goff and a pass to Amon-Ra St. Brown for 24 yards. Then Goff makes a few scrambles of his own and finds Tim Patrick for a touchdown on third-and-long. Bills 14, Lions 7

7:44: The Lions get a first down on their second offensive attack, but then Jared Goff is sacked twice in three plays and the Lions punt again. Bills 7, Lions 0

10:56: The Bills drive 73 yards for a touchdown to open the game. Running back Ty Johnson beat Lions linebacker Kwon Alexander for a downfield completion, then Josh Allen extended a play by scrambling and found Johnson again for a third-down conversion to set up an Allen touchdown run. 2:02 p.m.: The first drive of this offensive showdown is a three-and-out, with Jared Goff throwing two incompletions and David Montgomery going wide on a carry. Lions 0, Bills 0
