Davante Adams dominates in the Jets’ 32-25 win

When the Jets traded wide receiver Davante Adams this season, they had games like this Sunday in Jacksonville in mind.

Adams caught nine passes for 198 yards and his final two catches of the day provided the game-winning score. Adams tapped his toes downfield as he hauled in a 23-yard catch on a third down, then turned a short pass from Aaron Rodgers into a 41-yard gain on another.

The Jaguars stopped Adams at the 1-yard line on that play and used their first timeout, but were able to hold on the rest of the way because Jets running back Breece Hall ran the ball in on the next snap. That gave the Jets a 32-25 lead and the Jaguars had 65 seconds left on the clock. They moved the ball to midfield, but the Jets ended their four-game losing streak when cornerback Sauce Gardner picked off Mac Jones.

Adams’ big day included two touchdown catches, including a career-high 71 yards. Adams is now tied with Bucs wideout Mike Evans for ninth place in NFL history with 101 career touchdown catches.

Jones steered the Jags to three long shots on goal in the first half and they led 13-7 at the break, but they were unable to dominate time of possession in the same way after the break. He finished the day 31 of 46 for 294 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. Wide receiver Brian Thomas caught both touchdowns and totaled 10 catches for 105 yards.

The 3-11 Jags will be in Las Vegas next weekend for another game with major draft significance, and the 4-10 Jets return home to host the Rams.
