Miami Dolphins wide receiver Grant DuBose was carted off the field Sunday after suffering a blow to the head during the team’s 20-12 road loss to the Houston Texans.

DuBose was taken to the hospital and is in “stable condition,” the team said, and is undergoing further evaluation.

DuBose was cutting down the middle of the field in the third quarter trying to catch a pass from Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa when DuBose took a helmet-to-helmet hit from Texans rookie safety Calen Bullock.

Bullock was charged with unnecessary roughness in the game.

DuBose was on the field for more than 10 minutes when medical staff had to cut off his jersey, unscrew his face mask and place a neck brace on him before he was carted out of NRG Stadium in Houston.

Players from both teams gathered – some were seen praying – while DuBose was attended to on the field.

The CBS broadcast said the DuBose was still being treated by Harris County EMS personnel as he was loaded into an ambulance.

Tagovailoa said after the game that DuBose was “doing well” and that he was “recovering.”

The quarterback also wondered if he could have done something different with his pass to DuBose.

“I’m my own harshest critic when it comes to ball placement – when it comes to knowing where to go with the ball,” Tagovailoa said after the Dolphins’ loss. “I just feel bad that I even put him in the situation where he got hit.

“It was hard to move on after that happened. …We all know I’ve been through something very similar and it’s no fun. You never want to be in a situation like that, but you also understand that this is a physical sport.”

According to CBS, DuBose is currently at Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston.

CNN has reached out to the Dolphins for comment.

The Dolphins just activated the 23-year-old for Sunday’s game after he was on the injured list with a shoulder injury.

This is a developing story and will be updated.
