A lot of things are going well for the Seahawks, after all, they have won four games in a row and secured first place.

Certainly the defense played a big part in this, with several defensive touchdowns and other timely turnovers helping to turn the tide.

On the offensive? There are a few factors, but none have been more consistent than JSN since the bye week in November.

Jaxon Smith-Njigba.

“I think it just starts with his competitiveness. The guy is really a great competitor, he’s pretty relentless in that regard. But as far as skills go, we talked about that in the offseason. He’s got great hands, and then he’s got worse hands.” Physical strength and flexibility getting in and out of breaks. It’s difficult to stay with him. I think the chemistry between him and Geno (Smith) is growing. late on downs and stuff, finding open windows and zones and Geno finds him,” head coach Mike Macdonald said.

JSN has 75 catches this season. The closest he comes is DK Metcalf with 41 receptions in 2024. Part of that is certainly the attention Metcalf and Tyler Lockett demand from opposing defenses, but the reasons don’t matter.

Smith-Njigba delivers on every level.

And fellow receiver Metcalf is pretty proud.

“He was great,” Metcalf said Wednesday.

“I know Lock (Tyler Lockett) has seen me make the transition to the numbers he’s getting now, but just seeing it from the other side, the vet side or the OG side, is kind of awesome , because he did it last year. “I have no real idea what’s going on or how to approach it, 16 games, 17 games in a season. But now when I see him putting it all together, it’s kind of like a proud parent or a big brother moment just to see him have the success and I know he will continue to have great success in his league.

Big brother moment. Proud parent. They love hearing these terms from a well-coordinated team.

As the Seahawks prepare for a showdown with the Packers and try to maintain their lead over first place in the NFC West, the emergence of JSN has undoubtedly played a big role and will continue to do so, no matter how far Hawks coming in 2024 season.
