Seattle Seahawks QB Geno Smith leaves the game with an injury

Due to a knee injury, it is questionable whether Seattle Seahawks starting quarterback Geno Smith will return for Sunday night’s primetime duel against the Green Bay Packers.

Smith, in his third year as the Seahawks’ starting signal-caller, left the game midway through the third quarter take a low shot to the legs on an incomplete first-down pass.

Smith went to the medical tent on the sideline and soon went back to the locker room.

Replacing Smith was backup Sam Howell, whom Seattle acquired in an offseason trade with the Washington Commanders. After Howell entered the game, the Seahawks’ drive stalled two plays later and they settled for a 45-yard field goal from Jason Myers to cut their deficit to 20 with 6 minutes, 24 seconds left in the third. 6 to reduce.

Howell was sacked twice on his next series, resulting in a three-pointer for Seattle.

Smith was 15 of 19 passing for 149 yards and a costly interception in the red zone before exiting. The veteran quarterback entered the game second in the league with 3,474 passing yards.

Howell, in his third NFL season, had failed to attempt a pass in a game earlier this season. He started all 17 games for the Commanders last season, amassing 3,946 passing yards with 21 touchdowns and a league-high 21 interceptions.
