How much does Lainey Wilson make for the Thanksgiving halftime show?

Thanksgiving is here! And once the cooking and cleaning is done, it’s all about the football games. This year the NFL is giving us three matchups, but the Dallas Cowboys Thanksgiving Day game has a tradition that dates back to 1966.

Well, this year’s game might not seem that exciting. The struggling Cowboys take on that Tommy DeVito Drew Lock and the New York Giants. The teams have six wins between them. But before you watch a Thanksgiving movie, there’s a reason you should tune in. Even though the game is an intermission, the halftime show won’t be one thanks to country star Lainey Wilson.

Lainey has the honor of performing the Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Kickoff Halftime Show after Dolly Parton took the field last year. The event dates back to 1997 and past performers include Randy Travis, LeeAnn Rimes, Toby Keith, Carrie Underwood, Kelly Clarkson, Keith Urban, Luke Bryan and Luke Combs. But you may be wondering: How much money does the NFL pay to acquire this type of talent?

Since the event marks the official start of the Salvation Army’s fundraising campaign, Lainey is not expected to be paid. After all, Dolly donated $1 million of her own money during the event last year to support the cause. Additionally, the performers aren’t even paid to perform at the Super Bowl halftime show, so we wouldn’t expect them to be paid for this smaller event.

In her promotional video for the event, Lainey says, “You may know me for my bell bottoms, but I also want to be known for my bells. I am thrilled to announce that I have partnered with The Salvation Army to love beyond the holidays and make a difference in our communities all year long.”

If you want to see Lainey (and a special surprise guest), be sure to tune in to the NFL game at 4:30 pm EST on Fox. The day will be full of entertainment. Shaboozey is scheduled to perform at the Chicago Bears game against the Detroit Lions, and famed violinist Lindsey Stirling is scheduled to take the field at the Miami Dolphins-Green Bay Packers game.

Now we just have to wait and see if Lainey will follow in Dolly’s footsteps and wear the Dallas Cowboys cheerleading uniform!
