INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Many areas across the state could reach 60° this afternoon.

This morning:

We are looking for areas of fog and drizzle this morning. Thanks to warmer air entering the region, dense fog is not as big a problem as initially expected.

Monday:

Watch out for rain for the rest of the morning. There is a high chance of precipitation across the state, with even a few rumbles of thunder possible, especially in south-central Indiana. Rainfall amounts can range from a quarter to an inch of rain, with the highest amounts occurring in the south.

High temperatures will be extremely warm, reaching the upper 50s and lower 60s this afternoon.

Monday evening:

The rain should stop quickly by late afternoon and dry out by the evening hours. Look for mostly cloudy skies overnight and colder temperatures. Lows will fall into the mid 30s.

Tuesday:

Tuesday looks calm for most of the day, with cooler temperatures and plenty of sunshine. Highs will be in the low to mid 40s.

Wednesday:

Our next weather system will arrive very early Wednesday morning, with isolated light showers expected for much of our Wednesday. There will be much colder air at the tail end of this system, which could lead to light snow later in the afternoon hours.

Highs will reach into the lower 40s, but will likely drop throughout the day, slipping into the mid to upper 30s Wednesday afternoon.

Winter returns late this week:

Colder conditions as the pattern changes towards the end of the week. Our weather pattern will be coming from the north and west, which could result in some snowplows or snowstorms reaching the region over the weekend. Some forecasts call for some snow accumulation Friday and the possibility of some lake-effect snow showers across central Indiana Saturday. Temperatures will only rise to around 30 degrees on both days of the weekend.
