Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts isn’t too worried about the broken ring finger on his left hand.

“I can say that I don’t think it got any worse today,” he said after Sunday’s 27-13 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. “If it’s broken, it’s broken. It is what it is.”

Hurts arrived at Lincoln Financial Field with his finger bandaged and wore a glove on his left hand during the game.

Based on his performance, you wouldn’t have thought he had a broken finger. He finished 25 of 32 for 290 yards and two touchdowns.

Hurts has led the Eagles to a great season, with Philadelphia currently sitting in first place in the NFC East at 12-2. They’ve already secured a playoff spot and are positioning themselves as a real Super Bowl threat in the hunt for a second Lombardi Trophy.

This season, Hurts scored 32 touchdowns (18 passing, 14 rushing), threw for 2,892 yards and ran for an additional 589 yards.

The 26-year-old has excelled as the Eagles’ starting quarterback over the past three-plus seasons. He led Philadelphia to the playoffs from 2021 to 2023, including an NFC title in 2022.

Hurts’ value to the team is largely self-evident. After a series of disappointing performances and rumors of drama between him and star receiver AJ Brown, Sunday night was a reminder of how dynamic the Eagles’ offense can be.

Philly will be hoping Hurts’ broken finger doesn’t get worse, as there’s a big gap between him and backup Kenny Pickett.

In his two years with the Steelers, Pickett averaged 6.3 yards per attempt and had as many touchdowns as interceptions (13). Trading on the 2022 first-round pick for a few series or a relatively meaningless regular season game wouldn’t be the worst thing, but the Eagles’ title pursuit would be stalled if he had to take over for an extended period of time.
