The Pittsburgh Steelers offense made NFL history with their poor performance against the Eagles

The Pittsburgh Steelers offense hit some low points against the Philadelphia Eagles, and the stats they hit aren’t pretty. In the second half of their game against the Eagles, the Steelers only had two possessions and completed just 11 plays. This is the fewest number of plays a team has made in half a game since 2009.

That in itself is somewhat surprising. The Steelers simply struggled to get moving. Philadelphia nearly doubled the time of possession over the Steelers, and it’s the worst possession imbalance in a Steelers game since 2004.

With just 163 yards of total offense, this is the worst result for the Steelers since 2010. These statistics show up when a team can’t get anything going, especially in the trenches, as their identity dictates the football.

The Steelers have tried to become an elite running team this year, but they’ve been more hit or miss at running than consistently great. That could doom them in the playoffs, even though this team is much better than last year.
