Ex-WWE Star Remembers Fit Finlay Stiffing Vince McMahon

Former WWE superstar Dylan Mark, better known for his character Hornswoggle, recalled the story when his former tag team partner Fit Finlay accidentally stiffed former chairman Vince McMahon.

Vince McMahon has never shied away from taking big hits throughout his in-ring career. One of his most memorable moments was the steel cage match against “Stone Cold” Steve Austin at the St. Valentine’s Day Massacre, where he famously fell back first onto the announce table. However, this wasn’t the only time McMahon took hard hits in the ring.

Former WWE star Hornswoggle revealed a hilarious backstage story involving McMahon and a shillelagh during a recent episode of the show What did they think? Podcast. Hornswoggle recounted how Fit Finlay hit McMahon with the gun once during a segment, leaving a very noticeable mark.

I remember the night he had to hit Vince with it during the act. And Vince says, “You’re not going to beat me with that, you’re not really going to swing?” We get to the back and it was literally like the Roadrunner and Coyote thing where you could see the thing on Vince’s head grew. And he laughs and says, “You got me, you bastard.”

Also in the podcast, Gerald Brisco asked JBL how stiff Finlay was with the shillelagh. Both Hornswoggle and JBL offered insight into Finlay’s working style.

Fit would please an edited shillelagh and he looked like he killed you and didn’t even touch you. Fit was a great worker…a tough, tough guy. But then if he wanted to mess with you, he’d barely give you a pat on the head, phew!

JBL added. The Shillelagh remains an iconic prop in WWE and has recently featured in storylines involving Sheamus and Pete Dunne.

Why did Vince McMahon like things going wrong in WWE?

WWE Hall of Famer JBL talked about why Vince McMahon liked it when things went wrong at shows, saying that the former chairman liked it when things went wrong at shows because Vince didn’t like boredom and something going wrong meant McMahon having to fix the problems gave him something to do to avoid boredom.
