Wisconsin: Five dead, including teenage suspect, in school shooting | US News

Five people have died in a school shooting in Wisconsin, including a teenage suspect.

According to police, the shooting occurred at Abundant Life Christian School in the state capital, Madison.

“When officers arrived at the scene, they found multiple victims suffering from gunshot wounds,” said Madison Police Chief Shon Barnes.

“Officers located a juvenile deceased in the building who they believed was responsible.”

Police believe the suspected shooter was a student at the school.

It previously said “multiple injuries” had been reported.

The school is a private institution that teaches about 400 students from kindergarten through 12th grade, according to its website.

Videos from the scene posted on social media showed police, ambulance and fire departments deploying large forces.

According to the Gun Violence Archive, there have been a total of 486 mass shootings in the U.S. so far this year.

Of the 15,992 killed in 2024, 236 were children between the ages of 0 and 11 and 1,100 were teenagers between the ages of 12 and 17.
