TJ Watt, George Pickens injury update: Adam Schefter reveals latest schedules for Steelers LB, WR

Two of the Pittsburgh Steelers’ top players suffered injuries during the regular season. Star linebacker TJ Watts and star receivers George Pickens Both have suffered injuries recently.

Watt sprained his ankle against the Eagles on Sunday, while Pickens hasn’t played since Dec. 1 as he battles a hamstring injury.

ESPN insider Adam Schefter gave the update on injuries to TJ Watt and George Pickens on The Pat McAfee Show on Monday, starting with Watt.

Immediately after the game, Watt said he rolled his ankle and X-rays came back negative. However, Schefter said it was possible the injury could be worse than initially feared.

“Well, that’s what he said after the game. The danger here is that this is almost always correct. And then you have cases like David Montgomery, where you suddenly find out that the damage is worse than you thought and that a guy is going to be out longer than you thought,” Schefter said.

“He went down there, he was in pain. He obviously grabbed his left ankle. He said it was an ankle sprain, but of course there will be further tests to see how long he might be out. And hopefully it’s nothing more than the ankle sprain, the lower ankle sprain that he thought it was going to be after the game. But let’s see what happens after the test today.”

Schefter was referring to the injury to the Lions’ running back David Montgomery suffered on Sunday against the Bills.

Montgomery suffered an MCL injury and is out indefinitely. In fact, he could miss the rest of the season.

As for George Pickens, Schefter revealed that there is a fear that Pickens could miss even more time. He has already missed two games in a row. The Steelers will play the Ravens next Saturday before facing the Chiefs on Christmas Day.

“As I understand it, someone wrote to me earlier that George Pickens may have a second-degree hamstring injury. And I don’t know if that’s right or not. Someone wrote that. I have never confirmed that it is true,” Schefter said. “But if it’s Grade 2, that’s usually a month-long injury. Given these short games and because he didn’t train last week, I think it’s at least safe to say that his status for the upcoming games is questionable.

“And hopefully he can recover and come back. But it is at least questionable whether he can go or not. If it’s 2nd grade, it has to take at least a month.”
