Carrie Coon, Walton Goggins, Parker Posey, Leslie Bibb, Michelle Monaghan and Jason Isaacs are among the lively cast caught up in murder, mystery and deceit. “The White Lotus” will be released in cinemas in 2025.

Thailand is a great setting for The White Lotus – with even greater savings. Japanese producer Georgina Pope said at the Tokyo Film Festival that White was recruited to film in Thailand rather than Japan through a $4.4 million tax refund.

The White Lotus creator White previously teased to Entertainment Weekly that the season will be a “supersized ‘White Lotus.'” It gets longer, bigger, crazier. I don’t know what people will think, but I’m super excited, so at least in my own barometer that’s a good thing.”

The third part will focus on “death and Eastern religion and spirituality,” as White previously said during a featurette following the season two finale. “The first season was kind of about money, and then the second season is about sex,” White said. “I think the third season would perhaps be a satirical and funny look at death and Eastern religion and spirituality. It feels like it could be a rich tapestry to take another spin at White Lotus.”

Season 3 cast member Coon told Vanity Fair that the episode is even more “about death” than the bloody explosion in Season 2.

“I think he plays with a really interesting dynamic,” Coon said of White’s vision for the third season. “I think that’s something he would continue to do if they allowed him to, because I think he’d like to get bigger and more international and put stranger groups of people together – that’s what he’s passionate about,” she said. “And I think that’s important in this world, to see people compete against each other in that way. Of course he mocks rich white people, and he does it very well. He really talks to people you need to talk to in a really interesting way. His season was about money; He had a season about sex. And this is his season about death.”

And Coon is just one important part of the complex ensemble cast. “The White Lotus” casting director Meredith Tucker told IndieWire in August 2023 that she and White are making “lists” of dream castings.

“But it’s not like he’s saying, ‘Okay, let’s make this person, this person, this person an offer,'” Tucker said. “He likes to talk about it even with the more well-known people, and he really likes it when everyone reads something. Obviously some people won’t read, but some people who wouldn’t normally read are willing to read because they want to be a part of it, and it’s very important to him. Not only does he enjoy watching the actors, he also enjoys hearing the dialogue. It also helps him as a writer, so that was and will continue to be an important part of the process. I don’t think the MO will change at all. As the seasons progress, it will still be the same – people reading, maybe a few people getting direct offers. I always like to give opportunities to new people, people who are not yet well known.”

“The White Lotus” Season 3 premieres February 16 on Max. Check out the teaser below.
