Manitowoc’s superintendent responds in a letter

MANITOWOC – Manitowoc Public School District Interim Superintendent Lee Thennes issued a letter to district families and employees Monday following a fatal shooting at Abundant Life Christian School in Madison.

“We are shocked and deeply saddened by the news of today’s events,” Thennes wrote in the letter. “Our thoughts are with the Abundant Life Christian School community in Madison as they grapple with this unspeakable loss.”

On Monday evening, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported that the shooting at the private Christian school left one student and one teacher dead, six others injured and the shooter, a teenage student, also taking his own life. The shooter had not yet been identified at press time. Police responded to an active shooter at the K-12 school just before 11 a.m. Monday.
