Will Yellowstone’s Teeter be in the spinoff 6666? How characters could return

(Warning: The following contains MAJOR spoilers for Yellowstone Season 5 finale, “Life Is a Promise.”

Yellowstone concluded the story of the Dutton ranch in the fifth season (and possibly series) finale on December 15, revealing the fate of the Dutton family and the cowboys at the ranch (a full recap can be found here). To save them, the family had to give up the ranch, but returning the land to the native people of the Broken Rock Reservation was unlike anything seen before on television and triggered the prophecy 1883 full circle. After the ranch was sold, the Cowboys had to make a fresh start. Some of their endings offer select actors the opportunity to reprise their roles in upcoming spin-offs.

Although it’s been a long time since there was an update on this 6666 spinoff, there was never any announcement that the Texas-set series would still take place. Bring Jimmy (Jefferson White) back Yellowstone This season reminded viewers of his character and informed about his life in Texas. Jimmy now works for Travis (played by series creator Taylor Sheridan) as a horse trainer, and Teeter (Jen Landon) also landed a job with Travis in the season five finale. Teeter’s final scene showed her in Texas, watching Travis and Jimmy work and learning the ropes. After the tragic death of her partner Colby (Denim Richards), she wanted a change of scenery.

Given the lengthy (and unpopular) focus on Travis in the season’s penultimate episode, one could argue that this Travis-focused episode was a backdoor introduction to the Texas spin-off. Even though Travis doesn’t work for the Four Sixes Ranch, his place of business in Texas—along with Jimmy’s connection to both worlds—forms the foundation for the series set in that state. The integration of Teeter adds another level of familiarity Yellowstone fans.

The endings of Ryan (Ian Bohen), Walker (Ryan Bingham) and Laramie (Hassie Harrison) take them on the journey and leave room for their appearance in each Yellowstone future spin-off, if only for guest appearances. Ryan gave up the cowboy life and reunited with Abby (country star Lainey Wilson), whose music career was taking off. He accompanies her on tour (Sheridan is also doing a reality competition series with Blake Shelton about country singers who go on tour). And Laramie will work on her rodeo career with the help of her boyfriend Walker (the actors are married in real life).

Lloyd (Forrie J. Smith) helped Rip (Cole Hauser) dispose of Jamie’s (Wes Bentley) body and car after Beth (Kelly Reilly) killed him. He’s unemployed now, but we could imagine a world where Smith reprises his role in the Beth and Rip spinoff. Beth and Rip could ask Lloyd to work at their new ranch in Dillon, Montana, since Rip and Lloyd have a close friendship. And as Kayce (Luke Grimes) said in the finale: A cowboy can wrangle a cow, and two cowboys can wrangle two, but three cowboys can move a whole herd. Beth and Rip’s adopted son Carter (Finn Little) would be their third cowboy should Lloyd join them in Dillon.

The events of Yellowstone The finale also makes it possible for all surviving characters to appear in the upcoming spin-off The Madison. With Michelle Pfeiffer, The Madison will be set in the present day in the Montana River Valley, which is less than a two-hour drive from Beth and Rip’s new home in Dillon and Paradise Valley, where the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch is located. Kayce, Monica (Kelsey Asbille) and Tate (Brecken Merrill) now live in East Camp on their family’s former land, now owned by Thomas Rainwater (Gil Birmingham). All of the characters in Montana could now potentially appear in The Madison. And if Beth and Rip are trying to modernize the ranchers’ way of life and turn it into a sustainable business, collaborating with (sufficiently) neighboring ranches would make sense.

Yellowstone may be over, but the franchise seems far from finished. We probably haven’t seen the last of these characters.
