Snow and rain are forecast for some parts of the US as travelers head to the airport for Thanksgiving.

Here is your weather forecast for the holiday week:

Tuesday

Rain will sweep across the East Coast from New York to Alabama on Tuesday morning.

There is a slight chance of freezing rain in southern Vermont and the southern Adirondack Mountains of New York State before it warms enough for rain to begin around midday.

The rain will end in New York City and the Mid-Atlantic by the afternoon. Boston will be dry at 7 p.m

In the west, 3 to 6 inches of rain is possible for the southern Sierra Nevada foothills through Tuesday morning.

Heavy rain also hits California’s San Joaquin Valley.

Snow is falling at higher elevations from California to Colorado and winter storm warnings are in effect.

Snowfall in California ends Tuesday evening; In the southern Sierra Nevada mountains, totals could reach 3 to 5 feet.

Treacherous travel is expected in Colorado’s Rocky Mountains as snow continues to fall there through Wednesday. Up to 90 cm of snow may fall and there are avalanche warnings.

Wednesday

The East Coast and West Coast will be dry on Wednesday, making for a good vacation day for both coasts.

Interstate 70 will be hardest hit by the severe weather, with snow in the Colorado Rockies and rain in Kansas, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Tennessee, Kentucky and Ohio.

In the south, temperatures will be well above average, with highs in the 70s and 80s. Houston could hit a record high for the second time this week.

Spectators going to the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City should bring umbrellas and raincoats as the parade will be rainy with temperatures in the 40s. Breezes could reach 10 to 15 miles per hour.

Rain will fall across most of the East Coast on Thursday morning, while snow will fall in northern Pennsylvania and upstate New York.

Much of the Interstate 95 corridor will be wet throughout the day, particularly north of Philadelphia, where rain will continue through the afternoon.

Meanwhile, temperatures will reach the 70s in Arizona and the 80s in Florida. However, in the Midwest, highs will only be in the 30s and 40s.

Friday

On Friday it will snow from West Virginia to Pennsylvania to western New York.

The rain will move through north and central Florida, but it won’t reach Miami until Saturday morning.

Low temperatures could dip into the single digits in Minneapolis on Friday or Saturday morning for the first time this season.

Only in Cincinnati, Ohio and Omaha, Nebraska will temperatures be near freezing. Highs will only be in the 20s in Chicago.
