Overtime was ugly. After the end of regulation, BYU ran out of energy, shooting 2-for-11 from the field and failing to find an offensive rhythm. To make matters worse for the Cougars, Ole Miss went a perfect 13-13 from the free throw line in overtime – although some questionable refereeing definitely helped make that happen.

BYU needs to improve defensively. The Cougars struggled to stay ahead of the driving Rebels and were consistently beaten to the limit throughout the contest. BYU was particularly impressed by Jaylen Murray, who scored a career-high 28 points on 10-14 shooting.

Egor Demin and Dallin Hall were not at their best. Demin still added 16 points with four assists, but he shot just 2-for-9 from behind the arc, had five turnovers and had just three points at halftime. In his second appearance of the season, Hall managed to provide four assists, but he only attempted three shots in 29 minutes and posted a defensive rating of around 140.5.
