USC OL coach Josh Henson is moving to Purdue

USC lost a second-position coach this offseason, as offensive line coach Josh Henson will take over the offensive coordinator position at Purdue under new head coach Barry Odom, FootballScoop reported and sources confirmed to WeAreSC.

Odom and Henson worked together for a long time in Missouri from 2009 to 2015.

Henson was the offensive line coach at USC from 2022 to 2024 and also held the title of offensive coordinator. However, head coach Lincoln Riley was the playmaker and focal point of USC’s offense.

USC’s offensive line has had its ups and downs during Henson’s three seasons. The 2022 group paved the way for a Heisman Trophy winner with quarterback Caleb Williams. The 2023 group had some issues as the Trojans tried to get three transfer portal additions into the starting lineup and things didn’t go smoothly. There were some growing pains in 2024, just like the redshirt freshman Elijah Paige took over the left tackle position and had a rough patch midway through the season but seemed to come through and finish strong. At the end of the season, after some difficulties, Henson had turned the group around and the team was playing well.

The offensive line group saw a number of veteran departures via the transfer portal last week Mason Murphy And Gino Quinones reported, together with young players Amos Talalele And Kalolo Ta’aga.

This will be a move to keep in mind as USC’s first Big Ten game of 2025 is a road trip against the Boilermakers.
