We are tracking possible strong to severe storms tonight into the early hours of this morning

(KFVS) – Strong to severe storms will move into the heartland this evening.

We saw pleasant December conditions today with high temperatures in the upper 50s, calm winds and plenty of sunshine.

However, this will change tonight.

Chief Meteorologist Grant Dade says we will see some isolated showers and storms this evening, particularly in our southern counties. Some of the stronger storms could produce heavy rain and small hail. A flood warning has been issued for our far south counties, where up to five centimeters of rain could fall.

Temperatures will slowly climb into the mid 50s and low 60s tonight.

We will see a few showers early in our eastern counties on Wednesday, with drier and cooler air moving into the region as the day progresses.

After the rain tapers off tomorrow morning, our main impact will be winds with gusts approaching 25 mph.

Late in the day temperatures slowly drop to around 50 degrees. It will continue to get cooler towards the end of the week.

Highs in the 40s on Thursday and then into the 30s on Friday.

We expect it to remain mostly dry on Thursday through the rest of the week.

An early look into the middle of next week suggests relatively mild weather with a slight chance of rain on Christmas Eve.
