Fed Expects Fewer Rate Cuts in 2025: What the Experts Say

The Federal Reserve on Wednesday took the widely expected step of cutting interest rates by a quarter of a percentage point. Of greater interest to market participants, however, was the central bank’s more restrictive outlook for monetary policy next year, experts say.

The Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) concluded its regular two-day policy meeting on Wednesday with a cut in the short-term federal funds rate by 25 basis points (bps), or 0.25%, to a target range of 4.25% to 4.50%.
