Snow moves into southeastern Wisconsin on Thursday and could continue into Friday morning

I come here this afternoon to watch the weather report 12 this Wednesday. Time to get the shovels ready. Possibly the snow blower. WHAT? I mean, maybe you don’t want a shovel that’s a few inches, you know, nice and easy. PUSH OUT THE SNOW BLOWER. DON’T WORRY. WE’RE NOT TALKING ABOUT FEET SNOW HERE. We’re not in upstate New York, where there’s a lot of lake effects. BUT WE HAVE SOME SNOW SHOWERS. EVEN. I would say more. As a result, there is some severe weather in parts of the Badger State right now. HIGH PRESSURE IS OUR MAIN WEATHER PRODUCER RIGHT NOW, BUT OUR NEXT WEATHER SYSTEM IS A DEEP TOWER SOUTH FROM CANADA. YOU CAN SEE LOW PRESSURE IS NOW EFFECTING DIRECTLY INTO NORTHERN MONTANA. THIS BAND OF SNOWFALL IS COMING IN OUR DIRECTION AND WE WILL BE SEEING THIS SNOW HERE FROM THE EARLY HOURS OF THE MORNING TOMORROW. AND WE WILL SEE SEVERAL INCHES ACCUMULATE BY FRIDAY MORNING EVERYTHING IS SAID AND DONE WILL DEFINITELY BE AFFECTED, ESPECIALLY FOR TOMORROW AFTERNOON THROUGH TOMORROW EVENING, AND PROBABLY THE HIGHEST TOTALS WILL BE IN THE NORTH, NEAR FOND DU LAC AND SHEBOYGAN, LIE COUNTIES. So here’s a wide area image showing the low pressure developing eastward as we head out at 6:00 tomorrow morning. The snow is right on our doorstep, and then we have a first band of maybe a little dry air, which gives us a little break, but doesn’t last long. We’ve made that transition here as we head into the afternoon and evening lasting into Friday morning with perhaps a few lake effect snow showers on the back before we finally see clear skies Friday afternoon. So here’s a closer look. 7:00 PARTS OF DODGE COUNTY JEFFERSON COUNTY BEGIN TO HAVE SOME OF THE SNOW HERE FROM THE WEST. AND THEN WE HAVE THE LITTLE BAG AS WE RISE IN THE LATE MORNING AND EARLY AFTERNOON. SO ON AND OFF. It will rain during this time, but then become more stable as we head into the late afternoon and early evening, 6:00 near the height of the commute. WE WILL EXPECT SNOW ON THE GROUND, so you should expect longer travel times along the lakeshore. Another thing is that with winds blowing from the southeast, we may see a bit of a rain/snow mix, or a very wet, heavy, and dense snow as Lake Michigan water temperatures are quite warm right now. And then as we head into our Friday morning, you’ll see these little streaks of lake effect snow showers. AT 4:00 PM we finally wrapped things up. So we’re thinking about 2 to 4 inches for much of the area, a little less in the south, about 1 to 2 inches, and then further north toward Port Washington, West Bend, Sheboygan and Fond du Lac. There we think there will be almost half a foot of snowfall. NOT IN QUESTION HERE. It will be the largest system we have seen to date. So as far as shoveling times go, I would say if you can, if you definitely want to do it until we see that everything is done by Friday lunchtime. Or you could definitely do a few laps, depending on when you get home. 32 TOMORROW, 33 ON FRIDAY. BOTH IMPACT DAYS BECAUSE WE HAVE SNOW FROM THURSDAY TO FRIDAY, 25 ON SATURDAY, THE BEGINNING OF WINTER. DURING THE NEXT WEEK TEMPERATURES WILL WARM TO 40 DEGREES ON TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY FOR THE CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY.
