Rachel beats Sam and Sue

WARNING: This post contains spoilers for “The Last Stand,” the season 47 finale of “Survivor,” which aired Wednesday, December 18, on CBS.

“Survivor” 47 pretty much came to an end on Wednesday night — albeit somewhat predictably for anyone who watches every week.

First came the final immunity challenge for Rachel LaMont, Sam Phalen, Sue Smey and Teeny Chirichillo, the final four. Despite taking an early lead, Sam failed to take home his first immunity win and Rachel secured the necklace once again. She was one of five women in 46 seasons to win four individual immunities in one season. While she was honored to stand alongside Jenna Morasca, Chrissy Hofbeck, Kim Spradlin-Wolfe and Kelly Wiglesworth, Rachel noted that she was well aware that Kelly and Chrissy made it to the finals and didn’t win.

Rachel immediately revealed that she was taking Sue to the final three, which meant Sam and Teeny would be forced to start fires. For some reason, Sam hasn’t practiced making fire at all all season, while Teeny was doing just fine with it. Rachel also trained Teeny to boost her confidence.

Faced with the challenge of making fire, Teeny admitted that she had a “some one-sided rivalry” with Sam throughout the season, which stemmed from her struggles with her own identity. She said that because of Sam’s appearance, she assumed that he had received a certain treatment throughout his life and that “because of my identity and my gender, to put it bluntly, that’s not always the experience that I’ve had.” .” After adding that Teeny is “still struggling with things,” she said, “I was projecting insecurities onto him.”

In the most exciting fire-making challenges in years, Teeny got a big lead early on, lighting a huge fire before Sam could even create a spark. However, Sam’s unwillingness to give up is tied into this quite literally As the wind blew, Sam’s eventual spark built quickly, his fire burning through the cord in front of teens. Devastated, she was sent to the jury.

During the final discussion with the judges, Sue revealed that it was her 59th birthday – no, she’s not in her 40s, which is what she’s been telling the group all along. However, Sam and Rachel (understandably) dominated the rest of the conversation.

In the end, just like she did in the second half of the season, Rachel dominated and took the win!
